Description
Frank Cornelissen Magma Etna Rosso 2019 is the estate’s “Grand Vin,” crafted from 100% Nerello Mascalese grown in Contrada Barbabecchi at 870-910 meters elevation on Mount Etna’s northern slopes. The ungrafted, pre-phylloxeric vines were planted around 1910 and trained in traditional alberello formation on volcanic soils. Frank Cornelissen Magma Etna Rosso 2019 undergoes 50 days of skin contact with spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts, followed by 18 months aging in neutral epoxy tanks and an additional 18 months in bottle. Only approximately 2,000 bottles were produced, as Magma is made exclusively in vintages achieving optimal phenolic ripeness.
