Jean-Yves Peron’s I Vicini Barbera 2022 is a natural red wine made from Barbera grapes cultivated in the Piedmont hills of northern Italy. The vineyard features calcareous clay soils at 350 meters elevation, where warm days and cool nights preserve the grape’s signature high acidity. Peron employs biodynamic viticulture and hand-harvests at optimal phenolic ripeness. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with wild yeasts in concrete tanks, followed by gentle maceration to extract color while maintaining elegance. The wine ages in neutral oak barrels for eight months without filtration or sulfur additions, creating an authentic expression of Barbera’s vibrant character and Piedmont terroir.
