Description
Stagg Jr Batch 9 is a 131.9 Proof (65.95% ABV) small batch bourbon produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery. Released in the fall of 2017, this spirit was matured for approximately eight to nine years within the mid-level floors of the distillery’s historic Frankfort warehouses. Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley utilized Buffalo Trace’s Mash Bill #1—a low-rye recipe of corn, rye, and malted barley—matured exclusively in new charred American oak.
The technical profile is defined by this uncut and unfiltered strength, which bypassed chill filtration to retain a dense concentration of wood sugars and barrel oils. The structural framework is exceptionally bold and syrupy, featuring a nose of cherry cola and molasses, with a palate dominated by intense burnt caramel, baking spices, and a massive, lingering finish of cloves and charred oak.
