Old Forester 2003 Spring Release Birthday Bourbon is one of two Birthday Bourbon vintages issued in 2003, bottled at 93 proof (46.5% ABV) and distilled at the Brown-Forman Distillery in Shively, Kentucky. The mash bill is Old Forester’s standard 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley. Aged 12 years in new charred American white oak barrels under Brown-Forman’s heat-cycled warehouse program.
2003 is one of the only years in Birthday Bourbon history with two separate vintage releases — a spring expression and a fall expression — before the brand standardized on the annual September 2 release date commemorating founder George Garvin Brown’s birthday.
