Description
Colonel E.H. Taylor Cured Oak is a 100 proof (50% ABV) limited-release produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, KY. Released in 2015, this expression is the seventh unique release in the E.H. Taylor collection. The technical distinction lies in the maturation vessel: the white oak staves were air-seasoned and cured for 13 months, significantly longer than the industry standard of six months.
This extended curing reduces harsh tannins and allows for deeper extraction of vanillin and sugars. Distilled in 2004, the spirit aged for 17 years in the historic Warehouse C, built by Taylor in 1881. The resulting profile is defined by technical notes of toasted oak and maple syrup on the nose, with a palate of dark chocolate, tobacco, and dried fruit followed by a long, wood-driven finish.
