Description
Considered to be one of the premier wine growing regions in the Northern Hemisphere, Willamette Valley in Oregon is a beautiful appellation. The valley is nestled between two mountain ranges that protect it from Western storms coming off the Pacific Ocean and dry, hot weather that is more common in the East. The region is famously rumored to be wet and grey all year round; however, the growing season is the exact opposite! Morning fog veils burn off mid-day and reveal sunny skies that give grapes the opportunity to ripen before temperatures dip into cooler territory again at night. This diurnal temperature shift allows fruit to develop highly concentrated flavors and retain natural acidity. Unlike the flavor profiles of white wines from California, this Pinot Gris features a light palate and an oily texture that is complemented by only a touch of acidity. Delicate and pretty, this wine has flavors of bright green fruit that are complemented by aromas of bold white florals. A perfect wine for sipping while dining al fresco!
