Description
Stagiaire Wine This Slant of Light Chardonnay 2023 is made from 100% Chardonnay grown in a wind-battered vineyard in Marin County’s Petaluma Gap AVA. The site was previously farmed for Schramsberg’s sparkling wine program and is now being revived by winemaker Brent Mayeaux of Stagiaire Wine alongside vineyard steward David Rothschild. The organically farmed, south-facing slope benefits from sunlight exposure that moderates the harsh coastal winds. Yields remain extremely low at under two tons per acre. Grapes were pressed and divided between two vessels: one portion fermented in stainless steel tank, the other in barrel, then combined and aged in old oak.
