Description
can’t keep this part a secret: our Open Secret Pinotage just won “Best of Class” and “Best of South Africa” at the 2021 Harvest Challenge!
In this year’s Harvest Challenge wine competition, this 97 point wine earned a Gold Medal from every judge who tasted it on its way to the final sweepstakes round. It has been said there is no secret time will not reveal. For that reason, we believe the moment has come to expose South Africa’s hidden gem. We can’t think of a better introduction to Pinotage than our fruit-forward and rustic Open Secret. Pinotage is a crossing of grape varieties Pinot Noir and Cinsault. A crossing is created when two grape varieties of the same vine species produce offspring of a new type, which expresses characteristics from each of its parent grapes. Our Pinotage from the breezy shores of the Western Cape is a beautiful example of this unique South African grape. Take a sip and discover that juicy red-fruit flavors commonly associated with Pinot Noir keep this wine’s palate bright while enticing spice inherited from Cinsault adds excitement, complexity, and restrained tannic texture. We are thrilled to present this occult classic because a wine this food-friendly and rich should not be kept hidden. Scroll through the image carousel above to learn more about this wine.
