Description
Colonel E.H. Taylor Seasoned Wood is a 100 proof (50% ABV) limited-release produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, KY. Released in March 2016, this expression is the eighth unique release in the E.H. Taylor collection and the first wheated bourbon issued under the brand. The technical maturation involved barrels crafted from staves subjected to an innovative series of treatments: some were immersed in a 100-degree enzyme-rich bath and kiln-dried, while others were air-seasoned outdoors for six to twelve months.
The spirit was aged for “well over a decade” in century-old warehouses. Technical profile notes include a delicate aroma of caramel and dried fruit, with a soft, balanced palate of butterscotch, almond, and citrus followed by a hint of spicy clove.
