Description
Stagg Jr Batch 5 is a 129.7 Proof (64.85% ABV) small batch bourbon produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery. Released in the fall of 2015, this spirit was matured for approximately eight to nine years within the historic, mid-level rickhouses of the Frankfort distillery grounds. Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley utilized Buffalo Trace’s Mash Bill #1, the distillery’s signature low-rye recipe, matured exclusively in new charred American oak.
The technical profile is defined by its uncut and non-chill filtered strength, ensuring the preservation of the heavy barrel oils and complex esters developed during the decade-long maturation. The structural framework is exceptionally dense and balanced, featuring a nose of dark chocolate and spiced plum, with a palate dominated by heavy notes of caramel, toasted oak, and a lingering, powerful finish of cinnamon and rye spice.
