Description
Booker’s Backyard BBQ 6 Year is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon from James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky. Released as Batch 2018-02 and bottled at 128.8 proof, this uncut, unfiltered Booker’s release is part of the named-batch series Master Distiller Fred Noe oversees.
Master Distiller Fred Noe selected the batch from across three different rack-houses, aged 6 years, 2 months, 10 days. Fred Noe selected this batch to pay tribute to his father, Booker Noe’s, love for hosting cookouts. Booker famously coined these cookouts as “Bourbon-ques’, where he became known for his pork chops, flamed with Booker’s Bourbon.
Per Fred Noe’s notes, on the nose, it shows sweet hints of maple and vanilla. The palate brings rich, deep and complex, vanilla, nuts and oak, robust vanilla and caramel, slightly smoky, and the finish carries long, warm. The pour shows Booker’s darkest, deepest amber and henna color.
A 2018 Booker’s release, this named batch is closely tracked by collectors building a complete Booker’s run. Bottled at full barrel strength with no chill filtration, it rewards a few drops of water and drinks well neat or over a single large cube.
