Old Forester 2004 Birthday Bourbon is the third annual release in the brand’s vintage-dated series, bottled at 94 proof (47% ABV) and distilled at the Brown-Forman Distillery in Shively, Kentucky. The mash bill is Old Forester’s standard 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley. Aged 8 years in new charred American white oak barrels.
These barrels entered Warehouse L during a winter cycling period — the warehouse interior was warm and humid, leaving the pores of the charred white oak barrels open and accelerating extraction. At 8 years old, this is the youngest Birthday Bourbon ever released, producing a spicy and notably complex flavor profile.
