Description
Marcio Lopes Proibido Clarete is crafted from native Portuguese grape varieties including Tinta da Barca, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Francisca, and Rufete, sourced from 60-year-old vineyards in the Douro Superior region. The grapes undergo traditional foot-treading in small lagares, followed by spontaneous fermentation and aging in used barrels. The schist soils of the Douro Superior provide mineral complexity to this old-fashioned wine that balances structure with freshness. Producer Márcio Lopes practices minimal intervention winemaking, focusing on organic and biodynamic methods without herbicides.
