Description
Old Forester 2006 Birthday Bourbon is the fifth annual release in the brand’s vintage-dated series, bottled at 96 proof (48% ABV) and distilled at the Brown-Forman Distillery in Shively, Kentucky. The mash bill is Old Forester’s standard 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley. Aged 13 years in new charred American white oak barrels on the 7th floor of Warehouse H — the exact same warehouse location as the 2005 release.
The barrels in this batch were distilled and entered just one week prior to the 2005 vintage but were left to mature an additional year, producing a more oak-forward, mint-accented profile. At 13 years old, this is the oldest Birthday Bourbon ever released.
