Description
When downy mildew and scorching heat reduced Panevino’s 2023 harvest to a mere 15% of typical yields, only the most resilient fruit made it to the cellar. Panevino Survivor Rosato 2023 draws from indigenous Sardinian red varieties—primarily Cannonau alongside Monica and Carignano—grown on old bush-trained vines at 700 meters elevation near Nurri. Gianfranco Manca produces this rosato through brief skin contact before spontaneous fermentation in open wooden vats using native yeasts. The wine rests in older oak barrels before bottling without fining, filtration, or added sulfites. Soils of clay, limestone, and schist shape its mineral character.
