Orphan Barrel Rhetoric 25 Year Old is a 91 Proof (45.5% ABV) straight bourbon produced as the final limited release in the progressively aged Rhetoric series. This 2019 expression utilizes the classic distillery mash bill of 86% corn, 8% malted barley, and 6% rye. Originally distilled in 1993 at the Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, the liquid matured for a quarter-century within the historic Stitzel-Weller rickhouses.
The extended maturation in unheated, metal-clad warehouses pushed the spirit-to-wood interaction to its peak, resulting in the most oak-forward profile of the entire collection. This evolutionary process yields a rich and complex profile of dark chocolate, toasted oak, and baking spices, balanced by a deep undercurrent of honey and leather with a long, woody finish.
