Description
Woodford Reserve Distillery Series 12 Year Old American Single Malt is a highly unique, small-batch technical allocation launched in August 2025. Masterminded by Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall, this release represents the distillery’s first age-stated single malt expression and pushes the boundaries of traditional Kentucky aging. The liquid was distilled from a 100% malted barley mash bill and ran through the distillery’s signature triple copper pot stills before entering mature, used Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels for a minimum 12-year maturation cycle.
Bypassing the aggressive oak extraction of new charred oak, this lengthy resting period in seasoned wood yielded a lighter, nuanced burnt orange color. Bottled at 90.4 proof, its structural framework balances deep bourbon-esque characteristics with grain-forward complexity. The technical profile delivers delicate aromas of soft caramel, sun tea, and pear, expanding on the palate with sweet nutty malt, vanilla ice cream, lemon oil, and a dash of clove.
