100% Shiraz/Syrah
In South Australia’s Barossa Valley, in the township of Nuriootpa is where you’ll find the Welland vineyard. Planted in 1923 by one of the Barossa’s founding families, Welland is the last remaining section of much larger plantings of vines and fruit orchards that once occupied the northern end of the township.
50–90 years old vines; some vines planted 1923 (Lot 1). Aged 18–28 months in a combination of French and American oak (approx. 20% new). On the nose you’ll find aromas of Plum, black cherry, dried bark, and baking spice. The Palate is Ripe, with flavors of dark plum, blackberry, licorice, dark chocolate, and earthy notes. Full-bodied with tight, well-structured tannins. 14.5% ABV
