Midleton Very Rare 2000 80 Proof (40% ABV) is a technical annual vintage release from Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland. This expression is a marriage of triple-distilled single pot still and single grain whiskeys, each matured for a minimum of 12 years and up to 25 years.
Maturation occurs in hand-selected, lightly charred American oak ex-bourbon barrels, which facilitate a slow extraction of vanillin and toasted wood sugars. The resulting chemical profile is defined by vibrant notes of ripe green melon, kiwi, and white chocolate, which integrate with deep layers of honeycomb and earthy woodland spices. The full-bodied presentation maintains a silky mouthfeel with a lingering, sweet finish of caramelized pear and orange zest.
