Description
Old Forester 2002 Birthday Bourbon is the inaugural release of the brand’s annual Birthday Bourbon series, bottled at 95 proof (47.5% ABV) and distilled at the Brown-Forman Distillery in Shively, Kentucky. The mash bill is Old Forester’s standard 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley. Aged 12 years in new charred American white oak barrels under Brown-Forman’s heat-cycled warehouse program.
This batch is notable for its filling-day rainstorm event, which soaked the barrels prior to entry and reduced first-year angel’s share. Released September 2002 to commemorate founder George Garvin Brown’s birthday.
