Buffalo Trace 2005 O.F.C. Old Fashioned Copper is a 90 Proof bourbon distilled at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. This ultra-premium, museum-grade vintage expression pays homage to the historic Old Fashioned Copper Distillery founded by Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr. in 1870. The production utilizes the distillery’s flagship Mash Bill #1, a low-rye recipe featuring corn, rye, and malted barley. Distilled in 2005, the spirit underwent 19 to 20 years of uninterrupted primary maturation inside fire-charred new American oak barrels.
These select casks rested within the upper floors of Buffalo Trace’s historic brick and concrete warehouses, where extreme seasonal temperature shifts forced deep wood sugar extraction. Housed in a hand-cut crystal decanter inside a wooden display case, the two-decade wood interaction yields a luxurious texture with notes of medicinal cherry cordial, dark chocolate, aged leather, and highly structured oak tannins.
