The 2008 Four Roses Mariage Collection 107.8 Proof (53.9% ABV) is a barrel strength, non-chill filtered Kentucky straight bourbon produced at the Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, KY. As the inaugural release in the Mariage series, this technical blend marries two specific recipes: a 13-year-old OBSV (35% rye, delicate fruit yeast) and a 10-year-old OESK (20% rye, baking spice yeast). Matured in specialized single-story rackhouses, the expression is engineered to highlight the synergy between the high-rye “V” strain’s creamy fruit integrity and the low-rye “K” strain’s structural spice.
The resulting chemical profile is defined by vibrant notes of ripe pear, apricot, and honeyed vanilla, underpinned by a complex backbone of cinnamon and nutmeg. The non-chill filtered presentation maintains a lush, viscous mouthfeel with a finish of polished oak and tea tannins, distinguishing itself as a softer, more elegant predecessor to the later Limited Edition Small Batch series.
