WhistlePig The Boss Hog II The Spirit of Mortimer Straight Rye Whiskey is a 118.8 Proof (59.4% ABV), is a 2014 limited release bottled at full cask strength. Sourced from premium stocks in Alberta, Canada, the expression was aged and finished at the WhistlePig Farm Distillery in Shoreham, Vermont. The mash bill consists of 100% rye. Maturation occurred over 13 years in New American oak casks within Canadian climate systems before undergoing a multi-barrel aging selection process in Vermont.
Drawn from a select allocation of only 50 barrels, this unvatted and uncut straight rye features no secondary wine or spirit finishing. The nose exhibits distinct baking spices, toffee, dark fruit, and black peppercorn. On the palate, a bold texture yields intense rye spice, caramel, vanilla, and hints of tobacco. The finish is long and warming with lingering notes of brown sugar, butterscotch, and maple.
