This specific technical expression consists of a historical Master’s Collection Rye distillate that was purposefully re-barreled and finished in new Woodford Reserve Double Oaked barrels for an additional two years. The underlying rye features a pre-Prohibition style mash bill of 53% rye, 33% corn, and 14% malted barley.
By transferring this aged rye into the brand’s custom Double Oaked finishing casks—which are heavily toasted for 40 minutes and flash-charred for just 5 seconds—the liquid avoids absorbing heavy, harsh green tannins. Instead, the extended two-year secondary maturation extracts a highly concentrated profile of rich butterscotch, baked gingerbread, brown sugar, and toasted baking spices.
