The Macallan Rare Cask Batch No. 2 86 Proof (43% ABV) is a limited release vatted from 50 hand-picked casks, representing less than 1% of the maturing inventory at the Macallan Distillery. This 2018 bottling marked a transition from the 1824 Series to a numbered batch system, focusing on a high-intent selection of first-fill sherry-seasoned oak. The spirit is matured in a combination of American and European oak butts, both seasoned with Oloroso sherry in Jerez, Spain.

The American oak provides a foundation of vanilla and citrus, while the European oak delivers structural spice and dried fruit depth. This batch presents a profile of treacle toffee, baked ginger, and warm oak, reflecting a specific equilibrium of wood-driven character.
