Description
Maker’s Mark 2021 Keeneland, 90 Proof, is a landmark commemorative bundle distilled at DSP-KY-44, marking the first time in the partnership’s history that three distinct bottles were released simultaneously. This 1-liter collection honors the legacy of Isaac Burns Murphy, a legendary 19th-century African American jockey who remains the only rider to win the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Oaks, and Clark Handicap in a single year (1884).
Each bottle in the set is distinguished by its wax color—red, blue, or black—and features bespoke artwork by Kentucky-based artists Sandra Oppegard, Andre Pater, and Tyler Robertson. These labels were pre-signed by the artists and Hall of Fame jockeys Javier Castellano, Edgar Prado, and John Velazquez to support LexArts. Specifically, proceeds from this release funded the completion of the Isaac Murphy Memorial Art Garden in Lexington, a public park dedicated to honoring the contributions of Black jockeys to Thoroughbred racing history.
