WhistlePig The Boss Hog VIII ‘LapuLapu’s Pacific’ is a 104.8–106.6 Proof (52.4–53.3% ABV) rare and highly sought-after straight rye whiskey produced at the WhistlePig Farm in Shoreham, VT. This limited 2021 eighth edition features 100% straight rye aged for 17 years in new American oak before undergoing a double-finish maturation in high-latitude Philippine rum casks. The spirit was first rested in small-batch 7-year-old rum barrels followed by a secondary finish in shorter-aged, higher-strength rum casks to maximize the extraction of tropical esters.
This process utilizes intense wood interaction to bind traditional rye spice with deep, caramelized island fruit. The profile is characterized by a dense delivery of charred pineapple, vanilla bean, and ground ginger that transitions into a long finish of toasted coconut and savory oak.
