Woodford Reserve Distillery Series Brandy Cask Finish is a highly innovative, limited-edition experimental whiskey released in May 2021. Selected by Master Distiller Chris Morris, this expression represents a refined, smaller-scale adaptation of the barrel architecture popularized by the 2016 Master’s Collection edition. The liquid consists of fully matured, triple copper pot distilled bourbon—crafted from the distillery’s signature 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley mash bill—that underwent a secondary finishing period inside a combination of hand-selected American and French brandy casks.
Bypassing standard new oak rules, this seasoned fruit-wood exposure introduces a delicate vinous sweetness that rounds out the baseline spirit without adding harsh wood notes. Bottled at the brand’s classic 90.4 proof, its medium-bodied structural framework delivers rich aromas of caramel, floral wine, and chai spice, expanding on the palate with a distinct subtle grape character, chocolate-coated vanilla wafer, and fig, before tapering into a soft, powdery finish.
