WhistlePig The Boss Hog XII ‘Feather & Flame’ is a rare and highly sought-after 104.8-108.4 Proof (52.4-54.2% ABV) straight rye whiskey produced at the WhistlePig Farm in Shoreham, VT. This limited 2025 twelfth edition features a base of 100% straight rye aged for 13 years in new American oak before undergoing an experimental secondary maturation. The spirit is finished in rare Pulque Curado de Cacao barrels, which previously held a fermented agave sap beverage infused with cacao and a trifecta of Mexican peppers including chiltepín, guajillo, and pasilla.
This process utilizes atmospheric wood interaction to bind traditional rye spice with deep, earthy Mesoamerican flavors. The profile is characterized by a dense delivery of bright citrus, roasted cocoa nibs, and orange zest that transitions into a long finish of savory cacao and herbaceous chili pepper.
