Description
The vineyards planted in Mendoza, Argentina produce some of the boldest wines in the world. The growing region is situated on the west coast of South America at an extremely high elevation–vineyards sit anywhere from 2,600 to 4,000 feet. This altitude is a key factor in the uniqueness of the growing region as the typically hot and dry climate of Argentina is moderated by the winds coming off the Andes. These cooler temperatures allow fruit to develop incredibly rich, concentrated flavors and a natural acidity. Full-bodied and deep in color, this Red Blend is 80% Bonarda, 10% Malbec, and 10% Syrah. Bonarda is relatively unknown outside of Argentina but is most similar to Merlot in taste and texture. The addition of Malbec and Syrah in this blend adds plush tannins and spicy smoky flavors that make every sip linger. Sure to be a crowd-pleaser, this wine is perfect to open during cool fall nights while hunkered around a fire pit. Pair with full-flavored meat dishes of all kinds.
