Blood Oath Pact No. 5 is a 98.6 proof (49.3% ABV) bourbon blend finished in Caribbean rum casks. Curated by Master Distiller John Rempe at Lux Row Distillers, this 2019 release is a technical union of three distinct Kentucky stocks: a 13-year ryed bourbon, an 11-year wheated bourbon, and an 8-year ryed bourbon.
The secondary maturation of the 8-year-old component in ex-dark rum barrels introduces a sophisticated profile of molasses, brown sugar, and tropical fruit notes over a robust base of toasted oak and peppery spice. Bottled as a 750ml small-batch allocation, this expression represents a refined showcase of how island spice-wood finishes interact with extra-aged wheated and ryed Kentucky bourbons.
