Booker’s 2015-01 Big Man Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is bottled at an uncut cask strength of 128.7 Proof by the James B. Beam Distillery in Clermont, Kentucky. This landmark release is historically significant as the very first named batch in the brand’s history, establishing the tradition of dedicating individual profiles to specific memories of Master Distiller Booker Noe. The production uses the standard Jim Beam low-rye bourbon mash bill of 77% corn, 13% rye, and 10% malted barley. Composed of barrels filled between January and October of 2007, the spirit underwent a precise maturation of 7 years, 2 months, and 16 days inside fire-charred new American white oak barrels.
This batch is a thoughtful mingling of casks pulled from seven different multi-story wooden rackhouses. The natural air circulation across these various locations drives complex organic compound interaction. Bottled completely uncut and non-chill filtered straight from the wood, the liquid delivers an oily, heavy mouthfeel displaying signature notes of robust vanilla bean, roasted peanuts, rich toffee, and a deep, drying oak spice finish.
