Description
Booker’s Noe Hard Times 6 Year is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon from James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky. Released as Batch 2016-06 and bottled at 127.8 proof, this uncut, unfiltered Booker’s release is part of the named-batch series Master Distiller Fred Noe oversees.
Master Distiller Fred Noe selected the batch from six different rack houses, six different production dates, aged 6 years, 10 months and 1 day. This batch name pays homage to the nickname Booker Noe earned playing football in Bardstown, KY. This, combined with a birthday in December 1929, just on the cusp of the Great Depression earned Booker the nickname “Hard Times” on and off the field.
Per Fred Noe’s notes, on the nose, it shows deep and complex, vanilla, nuts and oak. The palate brings robust vanilla and caramel notes, slightly smoky, and the finish carries long and full, perfect for easygoing sipping. The pour shows Booker’s darkest, deepest amber and henna color.
A 2016 Booker’s release, this named batch is closely tracked by collectors building a complete Booker’s run. Bottled at full barrel strength with no chill filtration, it rewards a few drops of water and drinks well neat or over a single large cube.
