Booker’s Big Time Batch 13 Year is a Kentucky Straight Rye from James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky. Released as Batch 2016-LE and bottled at 136.2 proof, this uncut, unfiltered Booker’s release is part of the named-batch series Master Distiller Fred Noe oversees.
Master Distiller Fred Noe selected the batch from one rack house (Booker Noe’s favorite), aged 13 years, 1 months and 12 days. Booker’s Rye is the first rye whiskey from the brand, made from some of the last barrels Booker Noe ever laid down. Booker’s is always bottled uncut, unfiltered, and at barrel proof.
Per Fred Noe’s notes, on the nose, it shows pronounced, well-balanced notes of wood and oak from longer aging. The palate brings intense flavor profile, uncut, unfiltered, big in flavor, and the finish carries a long and full character built for easygoing sipping. The pour shows Booker’s darkest, deepest amber and henna color.
A 2016 Booker’s release, this named batch is closely tracked by collectors building a complete Booker’s run. Bottled at full barrel strength with no chill filtration, it rewards a few drops of water and drinks well neat or over a single large cube.
