Description
Booker’s Shiny Barrel Batch 6 Year is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon from James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky. Released as Batch 2019-02 and bottled at 124 proof, this uncut, unfiltered Booker’s release is part of the named-batch series Master Distiller Fred Noe oversees.
Master Distiller Fred Noe selected the batch from across story different rack-houses, aged 6 years, 5 months and 1 day. As the second release in the Booker’s 2019 Collection, this batch is an ode to a bygone distillery tradition that helped inspire Booker Noe when creating his namesake bourbon. ‘The shinier the barrel, the sweeter the whiskey’ was the thought process as a shiny barrel meant more rack-house employees leaned against them to thief out and taste the whiskey.
Per Fred Noe’s notes, on the nose, it shows deep and complex, vanilla, nuts and oak. The palate brings robust vanilla and caramel, slightly smoky, and the finish carries a long and full character built for easygoing sipping. The pour shows Booker’s darkest, deepest amber and henna color.
A 2019 Booker’s release, this named batch is closely tracked by collectors building a complete Booker’s run. Bottled at full barrel strength with no chill filtration, it rewards a few drops of water and drinks well neat or over a single large cube.
