Description
This biodynamic red blend emerges from Castelvecchio’s historic estate in the Carso region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, where vineyards have flourished since 1578 on karst limestone plateaus 145 meters above sea level. Terrano, Refosco, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon combine from vines rooted in the region’s distinctive arid, rocky soil layered with iron-rich red earth. The constant Adriatic breezes and alpine influences create ideal conditions for these varieties, which undergo natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Created as a collaboration project designed to be the ultimate barbecue wine, this non-vintage blend showcases both international and indigenous grapes cultivated according to biodynamic principles on this first karst rise between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea.
