Description
Resting on the southern coast of France, the Pays d’Oc region offers the ideal atmosphere for our Grenache Blanc. This light-skinned mutation of Grenache Noir can be picky about where it feels at home. If the climate is too cold, this grape will struggle to develop its hallmark fruity characteristics; too hot, and it will lose its acidity. Lucky for us, this region has a proven track record of success hosting this varietal; with the 2019 vintage receiving 94 points and a Platinum Medal and the 2018 vintage crowned “Best Grenache Blanc,” our 2020 vintage is sure to shine. The continental climate provides a hot, dry growing season. To prevent these fussy grapes from over-ripening, wind from the northwest blows in to relieve warmer days. This decelerates ripening, which allows the grapes to develop their full spectrum of fruit flavor. The winemakers capitalized on this varietal character by fermenting the wine at cold temperatures in concrete vessels. This protected the wine from oxygen and preserved the radiant fruit notes the climate worked so hard to provide. Scroll through the image carousel above to learn more about this wine.
