Fifth-generation winemaker Stéphane Dupuch produces Château Sainte-Marie Vieilles Vignes Bordeaux Supérieur 2023 from 72% Merlot and 28% Cabernet Sauvignon grown on clay-limestone and gravelly slopes in Entre-Deux-Mers. Vines average 32 years old, with some Merlot plantings exceeding a century. Grapes are hand-sorted and undergo 25 to 35 days of maceration with daily pump-overs. Château Sainte-Marie Vieilles Vignes Bordeaux Supérieur 2023 then ages approximately 12 months—partially in stainless steel, partially in French oak barrels. Planting density reaches 6,000 vines per hectare. No chemical fertilizers are used.
