Description

Despite its rainy western coast, Washington’s unique geography leaves the eastern portion of the state exceedingly warm and dry—the region has quickly become a rival to its Californian neighbors. Located between a bend in the Columbia River to the south and the Saddle Mountains to the north, the Wahluke Slope is among the warmest wine growing regions in Washington State due to its favorable southern exposure. During the growing season, the northern latitude provides long, sunny days and cool, calm nights, encouraging a full but even ripening of its grapes. These extremely dry conditions demand diligent practices in the vineyard. As a result, strictly controlled irrigation of the vines results in precise winemaking and a quality product. To preserve the integrity of the fruit, the grapes are gently pressed after harvest and left to ferment in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.

A palate of fresh apple and pear gently combines with tropical flavors like melon and pineapple, all underpinned by crisp acidity and a sound structure. The texture is full bodied, rich, and creamy without being overbearing or sugary-sweet, resulting in a perfectly balanced wine. Subtle notes of brown sugar, vanilla, and lemon zest round out the finish.

Made without fining or filtering, in a completely organic style, this wine might be a little cloudy when first brought out. The cloudiness doesn’t affect the flavor or quality of the wine and, if present, simply let it settle for a few minutes before drinking.
