Colonel E.H. Taylor Barrel Proof Batch 11 is a 129 proof (64.5% ABV) limited-release produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, KY. Released in late 2022, this uncut and unfiltered expression is crafted using Buffalo Trace Mash Bill #1 (low-rye). The spirit is non-age-stated (NAS), though technical estimates for this series range from 6–9 years. Maturation occurred in historic brick-and-stone warehouses constructed over a century ago under Taylor’s supervision, utilizing a #4 “alligator” char on the new American oak barrels.
The technical profile is defined by thick caramel, dark molasses, and gingerbread on the nose, with a palate featuring citrus zest, toasted oak, and dark cherry skins followed by a long, spicy finish of black pepper and allspice.
