Colonel E.H. Taylor Barrel Proof Rye is a 126 proof (63% ABV) limited-release produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, KY. Released in June 2024, this inaugural barrel-proof rye expression is the 13th release in the Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Collection. Unlike the standard Straight Rye, which is bottled-in-bond at 100 proof, this version is uncut and unfiltered, using a unique mash bill comprised of only rye and malted barley with no corn. The whiskey is non-age-stated (NAS) and was matured in historic warehouses at the distillery.
Technical profile notes include an aroma of white pepper, fresh floral, and candied apricot, with a palate of sweet dried stone fruit, pepper, and oaky dryness followed by a long, honeyed finish.
