Colonel E.H. Taylor Old Fashioned Sour Mash is a 100 proof (50% ABV) limited-release produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, KY. This expression, distilled in 2002 and released in 2011, was the inaugural limited edition in the E.H. Taylor line. The technical process replicates a 19th-century method shared by distillery retirees, where the mash is allowed to sour naturally for three to five days in a “drop tub” to lower the pH before fermentation.

Technical maturation for this Bottled-in-Bond bourbon was approximately nine years in historic warehouses. The resulting profile is defined by a floral aroma with an undertone of freshly baked bread, leading to a light palate of honey and toast followed by a clean finish with technical notes of leather.
