Colonel E.H. Taylor Small Batch is a 100 proof (50% ABV) limited-release produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, KY. Adhering to the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, this whiskey is produced in a single distilling season by one distiller and aged for at least four years in federally bonded warehouses. The expression utilizes Buffalo Trace Mash Bill #1, a low-rye recipe estimated at less than 10% rye.
Technical maturation occurs in historic brick warehouses built by Taylor, which provide optimal climate control for the developing spirit. The resulting profile is defined by technical notes of caramel corn sweetness and butterscotch on the nose, leading to a balanced palate of dried fruit and light licorice followed by a soft mouthfeel and subtle spices of pepper and tobacco.
