Description
Matassa Tattouine Rouge is a natural red wine from the Roussillon region of France, crafted by winemaker Tom Lubbe at Domaine Matassa. The name playfully references the fictional planet “Tatooine” from the Star Wars universe. This cuvée is a blend of Grenache Gris and Carignan grapes sourced from old vines, some over 90 years old. Grapes are hand-harvested from organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards. Whole clusters of both grape varieties undergo co-maceration and spontaneous co-fermentation for approximately four weeks, allowing for gentle extraction of flavors and tannins. After pressing, the wine is aged for six months in large 2,500-liter foudres, enhancing its texture and complexity. Bottled without fining, filtration, or added sulfur.
