Description
Emidio Pepe Casa Pepe Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2021 comes from the vineyard directly in front of the family winery in Torano Nuovo, northern Abruzzo. Vines were grafted between 1970 and 1974 onto soils rich in blue clay with a strong silt base. This terroir retains water well, extending the ripening season and producing what Emidio himself calls “velluto”—a velvety mouthfeel. Grapes are foot-pressed, fermented with indigenous yeasts in glass-lined cement tanks, and aged 24 months in cement. Emidio Pepe Casa Pepe Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2021 is bottled unfined and unfiltered from biodynamically farmed fruit.
