One of the more distinctive winegrowing regions in the Southern Hemisphere, the Western Cape of South Africa, is dotted with mountain ranges and valley floors that create many unique subregions within the appellation. Vineyards planted in the area see hot and dry days during the growing season but experience incredible cooling effects thanks to the nearby Atlantic Ocean’s breezes. This climate allows the fruit to bask under sunny skies and fully ripen but also develop and retain natural acidity.
