Description
Gut Oggau Atanasius Rot blends Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch from 35-year-old vines rooted in gravel and limestone soils near Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland, Austria. Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe hand-harvest and destem the fruit before spontaneous fermentation in used 500 and 1200-liter barrels. The wine spends approximately three weeks on skins, followed by 12 months of barrel aging without bâtonnage. Gut Oggau Atanasius Rot is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with zero sulfur added. Within the estate’s fictional family, Atanasius represents the son of Wiltrude and Joschuari—approachable yet complex. 12% ABV.
