Gut Oggau Mechthild Weiss 2021 is the flagship white cuvée from Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe’s biodynamic estate in Burgenland, Austria. Made from 100% Grüner Veltliner sourced from a single vineyard of 60-year-old vines planted in limestone and slate soils, this wine represents the matriarch of the Gut Oggau fictional family. The grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, and fermented spontaneously on skins in large old oak vats before being pressed using the estate’s restored 200-year-old vertical screw press. Gut Oggau Mechthild Weiss 2021 ages for two years in used 500-liter barrels. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, with no sulfur added.
