When we heard about their debutChardonnay, we immediately reserved all we could. Crafted by Joe Otos, whose mastery of California wine has earned him over 25 gold medals this year, this distinctive Chardonnay is sure to continue Hawthorne Grove’s award-winning tradition.

REGION:

For each wine, Hawthorne Grove selects grapes from the unique California terroirs best suited for the varietal. The 2015 Chardonnay is derived from seven different vineyards along the California coastline from diverse soils that, when combined, create a more complex wine than one location alone. The cool microclimates off the Pacific coast preserve the Chardonnay grapes’ acidity, allowing them to develop the expressive fruit character that makes the wine so crisp and refreshing.

Joe Otos is a genius of California wine, creating blends and varietals that convey the unique identity of each of the state’s finest appellations. With over 25 gold medals to his name in the past year, including two for Hawthorne Grove, Joe’s deep knowledge of California’s distinct microclimates and terroirs is evident in every sip.

TASTING NOTES:

Hawthorne Grove 2015 Chardonnay draws you in with aromas of Asian pear, green melon, and spiced white-peach. The wine bursts with forward flavors of apple skin, tropical fruit and additional notes of honeyed citrus that come from 10 months of French oak barrel aging. Bright and crisp, Hawthorne Grove Chardonnay has a clean, almost mineral, finish.
