Medici Ermete “Phermento” Lambrusco is a unique and vibrant sparkling red wine from Emilia-Romagna, Italy, crafted with a strong commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. Made exclusively from Lambrusco di Sorbara grapes, it undergoes fermentation using the ancestral method (Pet-Nat), where the wine finishes fermenting in the bottle, resulting in a naturally effervescent and dry wine with zero dosage (no added sugar). This method contributes to its “natural wine” character by minimizing intervention in the winemaking process.
Medici Ermete is dedicated to
organic farming, with its roughly 80 hectares of vineyards cultivated entirely organically. This commitment means they avoid synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, and pesticides, prioritizing the health of the land, its biodiversity, and the quality of their grapes.
Furthermore, Medici Ermete as a winery is
certified sustainable by the Equalitas standard. While their “Quercioli” line is explicitly certified
carbon neutral by Climate Partner through efforts like using lighter bottles, removing capsules, and investing in carbon offset programs, their overall commitment to sustainability, including organic viticulture and a focus on reducing their environmental impact, aligns with carbon neutrality principles across their operations, particularly with the Phermento’s minimal intervention winemaking.
